Q. Does Taj offer group poker tournaments?
A. Yes. Group poker tournaments require NJCCC approval so please be sure to contact us via e-mail at tom.gitto@taj.trump.com at least 10 business days in advance of your tournament. However, if you choose to play Sit & Go style tournaments, (one-table tournaments), you do not need to e-mail us in advance. Sit & Go tournaments are offered constantly between 10:00AM and Midnight everyday. You must present a Trump One card to play in any tournament.
Q. Where does the Taj hold group tournaments?
A. We offer the group a choice of two available rooms, the main poker room and the poker annex (which is located directly outside of the main poker room). The annex accommodates up to 120 players and is more private than the main room which accommodates 600+ players.
Q. Which style of group tournament games are available to play?
A. Almost everyone chooses No Limit Texas Hold'em tournaments these days, however, you may choose 7-Card Stud or Omaha as well.
Q. How much does each player contribute to make up the prize pool?
A. Whatever amount you chose, the house charges an additional $20 per person which is not part of the prize pool. For example; your group may decide that each player will contribute $100. Therefore, the buy-in would be ($80) which would go into the prize pool and the entry fee would be $20 which would go to the house. If the buy-in is $175 or more, the entry fee would increase slightly.
Q. How long do the group tournaments take to complete?
A. Most of our groups chose the same structures as our daily tournaments which usually last about 4-5 hours. We can design your tournament to finish sooner if you'd prefer. You can decide how many places get paid and what percentage of the prize pool the players would receive or you can use our daily tournament payout structure.
Q. How do players register for a group tournament?
A. You may chose from one of three options below to register your group.
1. You may chose to let each person pay and register here at the Taj. Please note that registration is open one hour before each tournament starts and continues up until the end of the second round of play for late-comers. Players will need to obtain a Trump One Player's Card which they can get with proper I.D. at Trump One Services located directly outside of the poker room.
2. The group representative would provide the Taj Tournament Cashier with the buy-in and entry fee money for all of the tournament players in advance. This money must be accompanied with a manifest list of each player's name, DOB and address. Players will not be required to have a Trump One card with this option (unless they win money) nor will they need to get in a line to register themselves since it is all done by the group representative before the start of the tournament.
3. Your group can register themselves on-line.
Most group organizers and players find this option the easiest since ptseats handles everything from collecting the money to providing you with your seat and table number. Everything is set up in advance for your group including a password of your choice. Your players would be able to register and pay for their seats on-line by using their credit card. Once the transaction is completed, your players will be able to print their tournament tickets right from their own computer.
Your players will always have the ability to retrieve their tournament receipt by simply saving and printing their e-mail copy which is sent to their e-mail address by ptseats If a player does not have a printer, they can get their receipt upon arrival in the Taj poker room. All players must show a photo I.D. as well as the actual credit card used to purchase the seat. Whichever style you choose, all seating is done by random draw.
